Word of the day: Bark up the wrong tree / take sabbatical

Word of the day

Holler:  grito, chamado, canção de trabalhadores negros, chamar, gritar
Synonyms:  yell, shout, scream, shriek, howl, bellow, call, shout, yell, bawl

“He was hollering across the fields to his workers.”
“ They were screaming and hollering at each other all night.”
“She hollered across the street, “Did you hear the news?”

Take sabbatical: tirar uma licença ou uma folga do trabalho (normalmente de dois meses a um ano)
“In 2012, he took sabbatical from his full time position in Gallup to focus on writing a new book, titled Eat Move Sleep.”

Obs.: The concept of sabbatical has a source in shmita, described several places in the Bible (Leviticus 25, for example, where there is a commandment to desist from working the fields in the seventh year). In the strict sense, therefore, a sabbatical lasts a year.
